JKPSC Maths Optional

Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission conducts entrance examinations for the recruitment to the different posts in the administrative body. Candidates are selected solely on the basis of the total marks scored in the exam conducted by JKPSC. One of the initial steps before starting preparation is to go through the syllabus. Develop a proper understanding of the syllabus. You need to be careful while searching for the syllabus. Since the syllabus is not yet been revised on a uniform basis. It is very essential to know the syllabus because many candidates move on to preparation without any understanding of what exactly is the syllabus. So to score good marks it is important to get familiar with the syllabus.

To get selected in Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission, candidates need to clear three stages of the exam which are as follows:

•           Prelims Exam

•           Main Exam

•           Interview

The first step that is the preliminary examination comprises of two papers. Each of these papers consists of 200 marks each. JKPSC Prelims Exam will be qualifying in nature. The format of the paper is multiple choice questions where you will have the choice to select one answer out of the given options. There will be a total of 400 questions, each carrying 1 mark i.e., the total marks assigned for the preliminary examination is 400. You will get a total time of 2 hours to complete the exam. So, try to finish your exam within this duration only.

The preliminary examination is the first step and if you clear it then you are eligible to sit for the mains examination. In addition to this, the score prelims are not counted in the making of the final merit list.  keep in mind that there is no negative marking but that doesn't candidates will provide any random answer. Always try to answer which is most accurate.

There are some basic things that need to be kept in mind before one chooses an Option. Herd Mentality is ingrained in Kashmir. The aspirants should never choose a subject solely because everyone else is going for it, one should consider their own interest in the subject. Past History of the subject in terms of Success rate should also be considered while choosing your Optional. However, the final success rate in the exam depends upon your amount of preparation. If you prepare well with proper planning then you will ace the exam.

Mathematics is one of the optional subjects which easily gives high marks with practice. Every topic in the JKPSC Mathematics syllabus is important and an aspirant should never skip any of those. Since it is a state service exam, the candidate must read the state board textbooks. Most of the syllabus is included in these books. Solving as many as the sample and previous year's question papers helps in ensuring that one is getting good practice. Topics like Calculus, Geometry, Algebra, etc. require lots of practice. Maths Optional requires less time but lots of practice, this is to be kept in mind while preparing. As the syllabus is vast, forgetting few topics is quite possible. To avoid this, timely revision is required. Revising topics in a regular manner and not skipping the final revision is important as well. Preparing a formulae sheet is crucial as well.

Apart from preparing Mathematics till Standard 10, aspirants should also analyze the news in the context of Jammu Kashmir. The weight age being given to questions based on Current Affairs in state service exams is increasing in recent years and hence careful adequate preparation for at least 2 to 3 months is very crucial for the selection.
