BPSC Maths Optional

1.     HOW TO PREPARE BPSC MATHS OPTIONAL?

BPSC or Bihar Public Service Commission is one of the most prestigious State Level Civil Services Exam conducted for recruitment to various posts such as Sub Divisional Officer, Rural Development Officer, District Sana park Officer, etc.  The BPSC Prelims and Mains Syllabus are set by the Bihar Public Service Commission. The paper is set by keeping in mind the standard pattern. It is designed to test the acumen of the candidates.

The basic eligibility criteria (of educational qualifications) for attempting the BPSC exam are to have a Graduate Degree from a recognized University. As per the pattern of the exam, there are basically three stages for the exam. These are as follow:

1.         Prelims

2.         Mains

3.         Interview

One of the initial steps is to go through the syllabus of the exam.  Candidates should have an ample amount of revision. Going over the sample paper is very important for clearing the exam as well as is making notes for objective type questions and for theory questions.

For Mains, they should solve the previous year's question papers of the BPSC Mains exam to understand and get a glimpse of how exactly the paper is structured and designed. One of the most important strategies to clear the exam is to stick to the standard books only.

The aspirants should practice the previous year's papers on a regular basis to acquaint themselves with the exam. The candidates should also develop a timetable with sufficient time for revision. This helps you to prepare in a uniform way with time devoted to each and every subject. It also enhances your preparation and performance is well in the final exam.

Over the years, the pattern of the BPSC Mains exam has also changed for good. The optional paper used to be dominating and time-consuming earlier. But, the GS Papers I and II have made things good for the candidates.

One of the easier optional subjects for the exam is Mathematics. It is to be noted that Mathematics is very scoring optional. Making concise notes of important theorems and formulae and revising them regularly is important and can easily help in scoring sufficient marks in the optional subject. It will make the tough concepts a cakewalk for you. Also, just rote memorization of formulas will not help to crack the exam. But developing a conceptual understanding of them will definitely help you to ace the exam. So, try to focus on the development of fundamentals and implement them in the questions.

The Mathematics syllabus in BPSC is of Degree B.Sc. Maths standard. For better understating the basic knowledge, consulting the NCERT books is encouraged. Solving last years’ question papers to know what to expect and to test your speed and accuracy is important as well. The pattern of problems that are being asked in the exam is more or less the same every year. Mathematics optional in BPSC requires a very less amount of time but lots of practice.  It is better to practice more and solve as many questions as much possible before the exam. It will boost your confidence. Also, you will get a grip on a variety of questions.  So that when you will sit for final exams you will be familiar with all sorts of questions. In this way, your speed will be much higher to attempt the questions and answer them within a limited time framework.

Mathematics is one of the subjects which have produced the best scores in any exam.

The objectivity of Mathematics makes this subject more beautiful.  There is no shade of grey here. This really helps in analyzing our progress when we don’t have the option of getting our answers checked by anyone else.

Apart from preparing Mathematics till Standard 10, BPSC aspirants should also analyze the news in the context of Bihar. The weight age being given to questions based on Current Affairs in state service exams is increasing in recent years and hence careful adequate preparation for at least 2 to 3 months is very crucial for the selection. So, keep your last months reserved for the revision and preparation of current affairs. If you prepare well with full dedication then you will definitely crack the exam.
